By default, the name displayed at the top of a case and in the case search function inside CROSStrax is typically set as the name of the primary subject of the case. If you would like the name of your cases to appear as something different follow the below steps:

1) Click on "Settings" in the Left-hand Navigation Bar. Then click "Subject Types" under Case Customization.

2) Click "Manage Custom Form" to the right of the subject type used as the primary subject within your cases.

3) Scroll to the bottom of the page to "Primary Field(s)". Here is where you can set how the name of the case appears.

*NOTE: The data field you would like to set as the case name must be marked as a required data field for you to use it as the primary field.

If you would like the name of the case to be something other than the default data fields provided, then you are able to create your own data field to fit your needs.

An example of this would be if the primary subject of your cases happens to be an individual, but you would like the cases to appear as something other than the individual's name, such as a law case name or your company's own case number.

To do this, you will first have to create your own data field by clicking "Manage Custom Field" located under "Primary Field(s)"

Next, you will click "Add Custom Field" in the top right. From here you can click and drag the type of data field you would like to create from the right-hand side into the blank area. You will need to add a label for the field, then click "Save Custom Field" to submit the new field. You can also mark this field as required from here if you would like, as it will save you the time of having to do it later.

When you are done creating your data field, you will need to add your custom field to the "Subject Type Custom Form" of the primary subject type. You can get back to this form by clicking on "Settings", then "Subject Types", then "Manage Custom Form".

Once you are back to the "Subject Type Custom Form", locate your created data field on the right-hand side, then click and drag the field to the left side to add the field to the form.

After adding the field to the form, you will go back to "Primary Field(s)" at the bottom of the page, click inside the box, select the custom field you created, and then click "Save Form" to submit.

Your custom field will now appear as the name of your cases! Note: This will not change previous cases automatically, but cases going forward will be named accordingly.
